Oh wait you don’t. I was your only friend. That awkward moment where a jealous ex-friend thinks she was your only.

Oh Facebook…

K.. this is going to be long as fuck. I don’t care if anyone reads, just putting my opinion out there. c:

Lots of bitching on Facebook today about teenage girls posting photographs that include nudity/partial nudity/underwear. Get the fuck over it. Most I know is that it’s for “Eating Disorder Awareness Month”, and girls have been posting photos to show that they are proud and comfortable with their bodies. Nudity, is a bit far. But I haven’t seen any. Photos in underwear? Come on, now. The same amount of skin is bare in a bathing suit. Please.

And people keep complaining on how girls are taking photographs of themselves and labelling it “photography”. Well, photography can be anything you want it to be. Whether it’s a stupid picture of a tree, or a half-naked photograph of yourself. Art is what you make of it, it’s about free-expression. As long as the artist/photographer sees it as art, then it IS. Doesn’t mean it’s appealing to others, or that there is any skill behind it, but come on. Get over it. Maybe these girls really are representing something about themselves with these photos. Who are you to instantly judge them as “sluts”? What makes you so high and mighty that you can put down another human being for expressing themselves and their pride in their body?

If you don’t like something posted by another person, scroll past it. And there are, by the way, privacy settings on Facebook. You can block family, certain friends, co-workers from seeing content or photos that shouldn’t be seen by them. So young girls are posting these photos? And are you really going to be that guy who says “they are so immature, all they can say back is ‘stfu’”? You’re putting them down and calling them out on something that need not be criticized. And they ARE immature, and they ARE young, of course their comebacks are going to reflect that.

One of the reasons that young girls are so uncomfortable with themselves is because of how upset people get over this exact kind of situation. Why does it even bother you? Really. Because someone being a “slut” or behaving in a “slutty” way doesn’t effect you one tiny bit. It’s disgusting how ashamed young girls are told to be of their bodies. The human body is a beautiful thing, all variations of it. I say, if someone has the confidence to show it off, POWER TO THEM.

They should be able to do so without prejudice, ignorance and shame in reaction.

If people look at that photograph and solely think the message being portrayed is “sexuality”, it just goes to show that THEY are the ones who have something wrong. The media has affected their minds so much that they really have come to think that a woman’s body is nothing but an object — a sex symbol. You’re just proving how corrupted the media has made the image of a woman, something that was once a symbol of power, beauty, strength and grace. Something that was once flaunted in art pieces.

Full nudity was once very accepted, and it’s not considered inappropriate nowadays because there is anything wrong with the human body, anything sinful or disgusting with the female form. There is no true reason for the showcasing of the human body — female OR male — to be considered inappropriate or thought of negatively other than the fact that people’s minds started to become corrupt, and solely think of it as such.

So kudos to you, people getting so upset over these photos. You have not only proven to be part of the sexually corrupt society of today, but you have also proven that you are ignorant, prejudice and buy in to stereotypes.

Step down from your pedestal and realize you are equals to all other human beings. As much as you have the right to disapprove their photo, they have the right to proudly post it. Get over it.

Also, if you ever are watching porn/wearing a bathing suit/buying lingerie/being nude/having sex/dressing sexy in any way/taking a photo of yourself/being proud of your body/supporting a cause, you are a fucking hypocrite.

NDN money

These’re great, ennit? They’re by Steven Paul Judd, a Choctaw artist from Oklahoma.

I wish I had the art skills to do this with Canadian money:(

Children in costumes are insulting and racist, yet this is acceptable….

Anonymous asked:
Nobody said you couldn't educate children. In fact, Moniquill said the exact opposite. You SHOULD educate kids about Wampanoags and other Native peoples, but you SHOULD NOT be racist about it. And dressing up in stereotypical costumes and pretending to be Indian IS RACIST.

It took me a good while to decide to justify your anonymous input with an answer, seeing as I strongly believe that all opinions should be stated with confidence and ownership. If you can’t hold pride in your opinions, you shouldn’t hold opinions at all.

You’re just getting butt-hurt, to put it in a common phrase. Let me ask you something…

Have you ever dressed up for Hallowe’en? If not Hallowe’en, have you ever dressed up for a play/theatre performance? As a child to have fun? For a costume party or masquerade ball? If yes to any of these things, you are a racist.

If you dress up as a princess, you’re mocking the royalty that still lives on this Earth. How dare you insult the Queen like that. How dare you mock her heirs.

If you dress up as a mime, you are mocking the people who truly devote their lives to silence. Some people take miming seriously, as a lifestyle rather than a hobby. It’s extremely racist of you to dress up as one.

If you dress up as a profession, you are impersonating and disrespecting the sacrifices those people make in reality to provide a service to you. Teachers, doctors, firemen. You are being insulting to every single one.

HECK, even if you dress up as an animal, you know what, let’s just call that animal abuse.

Seem ridiculous to you? If it does, well you are hopeless. If it doesn’t, you should relate this to your point. Exactly what arises such anger from you about children dressing up in feathers headdresses and vests? Could you really not live without the frustration that comes from something of such innocence?

Like I pointed out before, nothing is racist about what they are doing here. Children learn by hands-on, fun activities. So they do what? They dress up and do things Native Americans would do in history. To become educated. To learn. To embrace another culture.

Are you also opposed to actors and actresses? If you ever go to the movie theatre, or watch a movie, you are a HYPOCRITE. Actors and actresses take on the roles of other people, other cultures. Sometimes they act as Native Americans in films. To portray a culture. To tell a story. Is this seen as racist to you, as well?

Because many stories would have never been told if it weren’t for film. If it weren’t for people simply.. dressing up and playing a part.

Here is a blog that will change your LIFE - it’s a must follow

I am the heathen girlscout.: Fuck, I made myself sad.

moniquill:

Tell me why, Tumblr.

Tell me why I did a search for ‘Wampanoag Dress’ looking for historical and reconstruction Wampanoag attire and found THIS instead.

Tell me why non-native people think that it is remotely appropriate to dress their children up like this:

And make…

What makes me sad is how outraged a person can become because some children are dressed up for Thanksgiving. I’m sorry that you are so self-consumed to think that all people are ignorant towards your culture and just out to mock and disrespect you. I remember learning about Native American culture in grade school, and dressing up like this. It wasn’t to make fun, it was to embrace the culture and lifestyle. To learn, and become accepting. As children, we learn not by words, but by experience, by actions. By things that are fun and exciting to us, like dressing up and pretending. Perhaps the reason people don’t understand or engage in certain native cultures, is because certain people find it insulting for other ethnicities and peoples to do so.

I know a multitude of aboriginal people who held ceremonies and dances and celebrations when I was a child, where all people, young and old, were invited to come share a taste of their world. Sometimes it was like a large pot-luck where traditional native foods were served, sometimes we’d just sing and dance and DRESS-UP. This is how you gain awareness, respect and admiration to a culture. Not by being pompous and pig-headed and shunning everyone from educating and involving themselves in it.
